Hi Ladies, I’m just so excited as I think about my life, service, commitment to my family, friends and THE Come to the Well Women’s Spiritual Retreat. This is an epic move for “The Well” and my myself too. We both have ventured into another decade of life! God is awesome, ya’ll. Yes, “The Well” is in its eleventh year and I was blessed to have turned 70 years old! Yaaa, blessings galore. “The Well” was born after I had a breast cancer diagnosis in 2009. After ‘surviving’, although I was co-pastoring, I really felt the call be more connected to women. It was within the women of the church, years prior, where I’ve really felt connected. Being a part of the women’s organization (Women of the ELCA) in the congregation, within the conference, synod and national levels; to have a women’s retreat for other women, going through some stuff, seemed like a call to accept. So, I did, and God has multiplied ANYthing I ever though the retreat could ever be. The retreat has even sustained me through a second diagnosis of lymphatic cancer in 2015. It was then my friend, and colleague Valora Starr, who works with Women of the ELCA on the national level, in Chicago, came to help me out. I still had drains from surgery, on my person! We are still in partnership today. I’m honored and happy to have met so many women from all different backgrounds, ages, parts of the country, ethnicities, faith journey’s, economic backgrounds, faith expressions, and personalities. God has trusted Valora and myself to lead women, and no two retreats are ever alike. The Holy Spirit runs the show!! The retreats are generally held two times a year; in the spring (working around Easter) and the third weekend in September. Mark your calendars! Bible study, group discussion, crafts, facials, trails, swimming, paddle boating, archery, fellowship, meals, labyrinth opportunity, personal stories, massages are available and so much more can be found at The Come to the Well Women’s Spiritual Retreat. We so look forward to meeting you and seeing those of you who’ve participated before. Invite a friend or two, to journey with you. You and your sisters have a bounty of wisdom to share and glean from each other. We’re going to have a great time! … Come parched and leave wet. New decade, here we come! We’re ready!
